Reflecting on Change and Moving Forward: NZJSBA Committee Statement

08/07/2025

A Challenging Period for the Association

Over the past year, the NZJSBA has navigated some challenging waters, culminating in a period of significant change and reflection within our community.

In the lead-up to the 2024/25 Nationals, NZJSBA experienced a period of internal turmoil that required open dialogue, careful consideration, and ultimately, change. And while it was not without tension, it also showed the strength and resilience of our community.

Due to these circumstances, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) was delayed to allow time for careful restructuring and to ensure the association was equipped to move forward with integrity.

We acknowledge that this period has been unsettling, and we thank our riders, clubs, and supporters for their patience and understanding as we worked through this process.

Acknowledging Our Past Committee

The NZJSBA would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the long-standing committee members who have recently stepped down. Your years of dedication, passion, and service have been instrumental in building and sustaining the sport of Jetski racing across New Zealand.

From grassroots events to national championships, your hard work has made a lasting impact, and we thank you sincerely for everything you’ve given to the sport and the community.

On behalf of the entire community, thank you — your legacy is deeply appreciated.

Recognising Excellence Across the Community

While we have traditionally named a Rider of the Year and Person of the Year at the Nationals, the committee has made the considered decision to pause these awards for last season in light of recent events. However, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding calibre of individuals across our community.

The dedication, talent, and sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the year has been truly inspiring, and we are proud to be part of a sport supported by such passionate and committed people. The level of excellence on and off the water continues to inspire, and we look forward to celebrating these achievements more fully as we move into a new era for the sport.

Looking Ahead

As we turn the page and look toward the future, we do so with renewed focus, energy, and a commitment to doing right by our riders, our clubs, and our sport.

Thank you again to those who have served before us, and to everyone who continues to support NZJSBA.

With your support, we’re excited to chart a stronger, more united future.
