Prize Giving   Prize Giving will be held at Golden Gate Lodge in the Cafe area and will commence at approx 5pm.  Bar snacks and/or meals are available to purchase.

Race site   From Cromwell township Take State highway 6 on the Luggate – Cromwell Rd towards Wanaka.  Exit at the Lowburn Boat ramp, approx 2km from township.

Distances   Cromwell is approximately 4 ½ – 5 hours drive from Christchurch Cromwell is approximately 40 mins drive from Queenstown airport

 


 

 

South Island Jet Sports Tour Information Sheet

The South Island Jet Sports Tour is run in accordance with the New Zealand Jet Sports Boating Association, the International Jet Sports Boating Association 2013 current rule book and any supplementary rules as set by the NZJSBA (a full copy of these is available on request).  Before competing, all riders should familiarize themselves with the rule book fully.

2014  South Island Endurance Series

Round 1:         Lake Waihola               Waihola, Dunedin                  June 21st

Round 2:         Lake Dunstan              Cromwell                                July 26th

Round 3:         Lake Brunner              West Coast                              August 30th

Schedule of Events:

9.00–10.00am Registration and Scruitineering/safety check of ski and riders safety equipment Your ski is given a safety check and your safety equipment including life jacket   and helmet are checked for wear and tear. 10.00am          Riders Briefing. Competitors riding at each event MUST attend riders briefing.  The official race director will brief you on the course and any safety aspects. 10.30am          approximate time that Daily race schedule commences.  Skis race for 45mins Then 1 of two runabout races commences at 11.30pm, with a controlled fuel Stop in between.

 

Race Licenses All competitors must hold a current NZJSBA Race License or apply for a day license. You can apply for licenses at any NZJSBA sanctioned event/South Island Tour event.

  • If you are applying for a license for the first time please bring along a photocopy of photo ID plus the original matching ID for officials to view.
  • If you are under 18yrs, your license Must be co signed by a parent/guardian, Minimum age 15 years old unless prior dispensation is granted (MNZ regulation).

You MUST hold a full license to compete at the New Zealand Nationals Event.            

 

Race Details The following outlines the basic race plans for the 3 rounds.  These are subject to change to align with local council bylaws and/or race site suitability.

  • Pole skis: 1 x 45min race with 1 compulsory fuel stop.
  • Runabouts: 2 x 45min races.

Ski class only will be subject to a minimum of one compulsory Fuel Stop in the 45min race.  Fuel stops will require competitors to slow to 5knots from a designated point on the track, trolley or pull skis completely out of the water and put a minimum of one drop of fuel into the tank.  You MUST have a towel ready to mop up any spills.  Any rider speeding into the designated fuel area, not pulling ski completely out of water or spilling fuel will be penalized a minimum of 2 minutes time penalty. Runabouts will have a ½ hour period between their races to re fuel out of the water at the boat ramp.   This event is open to competitive and social style riders.  We recommend an adequate level of fitness is required to compete at the event.   The South Island Tour will be racing to the 2013 International Rule Book incorporating the supplementary stock class rules set by the NZJSBA.  

 

Team Event 2 Riders must be nominated on their 1st race of the series. One of the nominated riders Must race each round. Runabout Teams is classified as a Runabout Open Class.   All riders must be present at the riders briefing to be eligible to race unless authorized by the official nominated race director.

 

Prize Giving A small function will be held at each event to hand out any trophies and prizes. Times may vary between events.
